In 2018 , around 50,449 Brits visited Jordan showing an increase of 21 per cent as compared to the same period last year.
The Middle Eastern destination attracted many due to its growing adventure activities, tours and rapid development in the Red Sea resort of Aqaba. In the buzzing capital Amman, there are new cultural activities which have made Jordan a key destination for travellers apart from the main sites of Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea.
Last year in November new direct easyJet flights from London Gatwick to the city of Aqaba on the Red Sea. This attracted new travellers to the south of the country.
Aqaba has rapidly turned into a viable winter sun alternative in the Red Sea region and it saw the opening of new hotels at resorts like the Ayla.
It is expected that 2019 will be another positive year, the country will be taking centre stage as the star of major Hollywood blockbuster’s that will include the live-action remake of Disney’s Aladdin and the Star Wars:Episode IX.
Abed Al-Razzaq, managing director of the Jordan Tourism Board was delighted to once again see an increase in British travellers to the country. It demonstrated the appeal of the many memorable experiences they have to offer in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
He went on saying that along with the wealth of natural wonders, cultural sights and adventure activities the coming year will see the country staring on the big screen that will further attract more visitors to Jordan.
