UNWTO announces Egypt as the fastest growing tourist destination

EgyptConsidering the year-over-year percentage increase in visitors, Egypt has been announced as the fastest growing tourist destination as per the UNWTO.

 

In 2017 the annual report revealed that Egypt welcomed about 8.5 million tourists reflecting an increase in the number of tourists by 55.1 percent as compared to the same duration previous year.

 

 
As per the report Luxor and Giza topped as Egypt’s most famous and well-known cities for tourists’ while France was the highest voted country for tourists.

As per a government official the tourism revenue jumped 77 percent in the first half of 2018 amounting to $4.8 billion as compared to the same period last year.

 

 

Following the 2011 revolution, Egypt’s economy and tourism saw a fall which affected the entire country but it showed recovery in the past period as per the economic and governmental statics.

 

Earlier , an economic reform program was launched by the government and the tourism sector saw a gradual improvement.

 

 

In the first half of 2018 the visitors’ numbers  jumped 41 percent from last year to 5 million.

 

 

In 2010 a total of 14.7 million visited Egypt before the uprising there will be greater traffic from Western Europe, Italy, Germany and Ukraine by the end of the year and as per the indicators the earnings will be about $9 billion.

 
The Red Sea Governorate released an official statistics that showed the number of tourist in July reached 505,710 tourists which showed an increase of more than 130,000 tourists as compared to June.

 

 
The hotel occupancy rate increased by 74 percent in July and was up from 63 percent in June.
