Today, Viking unveiled its latest travel innovation, introducing an unprecedented Mongolian adventure with its Spirit of Mongolia extension program. This groundbreaking offering presents travelers with a five-night guided exploration, either before or after their main trip, diving deep into Mongolia’s cultural heart. Participants will be whisked away on an extraordinary journey from the historic streets of Ulaanbaatar to the vast expanses of the Gobi Desert, enriching their understanding of Mongolia’s ancient traditions.

“We were proud to announce our new China ocean voyages recently, and we are now pleased to offer guests our first experiences in Mongolia,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking. “Our guests are curious travelers who are interested in experiences that broaden their minds. With its geographic diversity and incredible history, Mongolia is an extraordinary destination making it a natural extension to our new China itineraries.”

Travelers opting for the Spirit of Mongolia extension will start their odyssey in Ulaanbaatar. There, a Viking Representative will guide them through the city’s marvels, including a visit to the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, Mongolia’s premiere cultural establishment, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into a paleontology lab.

The adventure proceeds to Dalanzadgad, culminating in a stay at the Three Camel Lodge, an acclaimed eco-lodge at the Gobi Desert’s edge, near Gurvan Saikhan National Park. This unique accommodation offers luxury yurts (gers) equipped with modern comforts. Over three days, guests can enjoy activities like archery, camel safaris, and treks to the Flaming Cliffs. Early risers might embark on a sunrise hike or uncover ancient petroglyphs on Bulagtai Mountain. Culinary enthusiasts can learn to prepare traditional buuz (steamed dumplings) under the guidance of a Mongolian chef. The journey circles back to Ulaanbaatar for a final day of exploration before guests proceed to their next Viking destination in China or head home.

Beyond the Spirit of Mongolia, Viking enriches its China offerings with four other Pre and Post extensions, available in vibrant locales like Hong Kong and Beijing, and the scenic beauty of Guilin and Suzhou. These additional packages range from three to four nights, each promising an immersive experience into China’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage. From delving into Beijing’s historical wonders, exploring Hong Kong’s dynamic skyline, to embracing the serene allure of Guilin and Suzhou’s classic gardens, these extensions cater to varied interests and tastes.

Viking’s China voyages include the comprehensive Best of China and Wonders of China tours, both spanning 20 days, the 15-day Classic China & the Coast, and the 10-day China Discovery. Each itinerary is designed to showcase China’s rich historical tapestry, natural beauty, and cultural diversity.

For those intrigued by Viking’s unique approach to Chinese exploration, two videos have been released. Executive Vice President Karine Hagen invites travelers to discover the exclusive Viking China voyages, while Vice President of Product Development Joost Ouendag offers insights into these meticulously crafted tours, highlighting the opportunity to immerse in China’s storied past and vibrant present.

The Viking Yi Dun, dedicated to these Chinese journeys, mirrors Viking’s commitment to quality and cultural immersion. As part of Viking’s distinguished ocean fleet, the Viking Yi Dun provides an intimate onboard experience, perfectly complementing the rich explorations ashore with its Scandinavian design and open-air dining, ensuring an unforgettable voyage into the heart of China.
