Today, MSC Cruises, ranking as the third largest cruise operator globally, unveiled plans for the inaugural celebration of its latest and most magnificent vessel, MSC World America. This event is scheduled for the evening of April 9, 2025, at MSC’s newly inaugurated terminal in PortMiami. This event will pay tribute to MSC Cruises’ dedication to Miami and its steadfast engagement with the North American sector, marked by the ceremonial champagne christening and a series of engaging activities onboard that showcase the best of what the newest Miami megaship has to offer.

Attendees of the naming ceremony will have the exclusive opportunity to embark on an inaugural voyage that introduces a novel cruising experience. This journey will feature a stop at the cruise line’s secluded island paradise—Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. The voyage’s schedule includes an overnight stay on the island, complete with its renowned lighthouse evening spectacle and a lively beach celebration. The following morning offers more time to explore Ocean Cay, after which guests will spend a day at sea relishing in the myriad of innovative and captivating onboard features and services.

As the flagship poised to redefine the U.S. cruising landscape, MSC World America stands out as the most sizable ship MSC Cruises has ever deployed in the United States and marks the company’s first LNG-powered vessel in the region. Representing the second vessel within the revolutionary World Class series, MSC World America has been meticulously crafted to cater to the preferences of North American travelers, integrating European elegance with American comforts across its 22 decks, more than 150 feet of breadth, and 2,614 staterooms. Upon its christening in 2025, MSC World America is set to become a prominent feature of the Miami skyline.

Rubén A. Rodríguez, President, MSC Cruises USA, said: “There is no better place to welcome MSC World America than the cruise capital of the world. We look forward to seeing her sail out of our new, state-of-the-art cruise terminal built in partnership with Miami-Dade County and PortMiami. As we build upon our offering in the North American market and help attract more international guests to the Caribbean, we are excited to bring our newest and most remarkable ship yet to Miami. We eagerly await April 2025, when we can welcome guests on board to experience the world of choice that our new flagship has to offer.”

Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami-Dade County, said: “We are thrilled to welcome MSC World America to PortMiami. I also want to commend MSC Cruises for their investments in our community. Their new terminal has created many jobs for our residents and positively impacted our local economy. We look forward to a successful partnership and continued growth at the Cruise Capital of the World.”

The debut of MSC World America at MSC Cruises’ innovative PortMiami terminal, along with the development of a new $100 million U.S. headquarters in downtown Miami, highlights the company’s strong commitment to South Florida. This new terminal, set to be the largest of its kind globally, is expected to transform the cruise experience for approximately 36,000 passengers daily and supports MSC Cruises’ expansion efforts in PortMiami.

After its much-anticipated naming ceremony, MSC World America will embark on her first season starting April 12, 2025. The ship will alternate between 7-night voyages to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, making stops in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; Isla de Roatan, Honduras; and the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in The Bahamas.

In line with efforts to mitigate environmental impact, MSC World America has been meticulously engineered. Powered by LNG, which emits fewer pollutants, the ship is also prepared to integrate renewable energy sources. Its capability for shore power connectivity allows it to operate without its engines while docked, further reducing emissions. Advanced technology aboard the ship ensures a comfortable voyage for guests while optimizing energy and water consumption. The ship boasts an extensive recycling program to lessen waste generation, and even its propellers are designed to minimize noise and prevent disruption to marine habitats.
