Jetstar Celebrates 20 Years of Success Launches 100th Domestic Route

Jetstar is marking its 20th anniversary since inception with the announcement of its 100th domestic route. Commencing operations on 28th June, the low-cost carrier will offer daily flights between Melbourne (Avalon) Airport and Brisbane.

This new service aims to enhance accessibility to South-East Queensland for customers residing in Greater Melbourne, Geelong, and Western Victoria. Additionally, it will facilitate travel for thousands of Queenslanders to Melbourne, the Surf Coast, and the Great Ocean Road annually.

Brisbane becomes the third destination connected by Jetstar from Melbourne (Avalon), reflecting the airline’s commitment to expanding flight options in response to increasing demand. Melbourne (Avalon) to Brisbane marks Jetstar’s 100th domestic route, affirming its dedication over two decades to providing affordable airfares to Australians and promoting frequent travel.

To commemorate the launch of this new route, Jetstar will host a 12-hour sale starting at 12 pm AEDT on Wednesday, 27th March 2024, offering one-way fares from Melbourne (Avalon) to Brisbane starting at just $49^.

Jetstar Group CEO, Stephanie Tully said that the new route marks an exciting milestone for the airline. 

 “The launch of flights between Melbourne (Avalon) and Brisbane marks the first time in our history we’ve operated 100 domestic routes, which has been made possible by the introduction of our new state-of-the-art NEO aircraft into our fleet.  

 “Creating a direct link between Avalon and Brisbane will provide even more options for Victorians wanting to travel to Queensland at an affordable price, as well as boost tourism to the beautiful Surf Coast region and surrounds. 

 “It’s been 20 years since we first took to the skies, allowing more Australians to travel for less and with every opportunity we’re excited to be expanding  our network further.   

 “Demand for our everyday low fares is stronger than ever, as we continue to invest in new aircraft, new uniforms and new routes like this one.”
