InterContinental Hotels & Resorts Expands Garner Hotels Brand Across Four Continents as Part of Global Growth Strategy

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) is expanding its newest midscale conversion brand, Garner Hotels, now available across its Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Africa (EMEAA) regions. This development signifies another step toward Garner’s ambition of opening over 500 hotels within the next decade, and 1,000 hotels in the next 20 years.

This expansion follows IHG’s announcement at the International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF) in Berlin about a strategic partnership with NOVUM Hospitality, one of Germany’s foremost private hotel operators. This collaboration aims to introduce 56 Garner hotels, both existing and in development, across Germany.

Garner is tailored to provide owners with both flexibility and robust returns, while offering guests a unique, high-quality experience at an affordable price. Currently, Garner boasts three operational hotels and 14 in development globally. This includes the first U.S. property that launched less than three months after the brand’s introduction, and upcoming plans for three hotels in Osaka, Japan, anticipated to open in the latter half of the year.

The interest in conversion opportunities has been on the rise, with over half of IHG’s new openings in the EMEAA region last year involving conversion deals. This trend is driven by property owners looking for better investment returns and reduced initial costs by swiftly transitioning properties to operational status. These owners also gain rapid access to IHG’s network, which includes its digital platforms, global sales force, award-winning distribution channels, and the IHG One Rewards loyalty program.
