Heilongjiang Delegation Wraps Up Winter Tourism Study with Copenhagen Event as Spring Arrives in Scandinavia

In April, Scandinavia welcomes the gentle breezes and signs of spring. After conducting a thorough study of ice and snow tourism in Finland and Norway, the cultural and tourism delegation from Heilongjiang Province organized a productive ice and snow tourism promotion event in Copenhagen, Denmark, as their final destination. Mr. Liang Bin, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Denmark, Mr.He Jing, the Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, along with Mr.Nicki Ottevig, a member of the Slagelse City Council and Cultural Tourism Commissioner, delivered speeches at the event. Nearly 50 representatives from various sectors, including the Copenhagen City Government, the Fredriksberg Opera House, travel agencies, chambers of commerce, sports and cultural associations, and the China Global Bridge, attended the event.

During the event, Mr. Wang Hongxin, the Chief of the Harbin Cultural Broadcasting and Tourism Bureau, Mr. Wang Wei, the Chief of the Yichun Cultural Broadcasting and Tourism Bureau,Guo Hongwei, the Chairperson of Harbin Ice and Snow World, and Mr. Zou Xiangdong, the Section Chief of the External Cooperation Department of the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, presented the ice and snow tourism resources and offerings of pertinent ‘ cities and enterprises in Heilongjiang Province.

Discussions among Danish government officials, CEOs of travel agencies from Denmark and Sweden, and prominent figures in the cultural and sports sectors focused on the global impact of Heilongjiang’s thriving ice and snow tourism industry. They also explored prospects for tourism cooperation among China, Denmark, Heilongjiang, and the Nordic countries. Councilor Nicki Ottevig highlighted the growing awareness among Danes regarding the popularity of Harbin’s ice and snow tourism, expressing a keen interest in further cooperation with Heilongjiang Province. Mr. Peter Melander, CEO of Copenhagen Global Travel and Exhibition Company, suggested that Nordic people would enjoy skiing in Heilongjiang at a lower cost compared to other Nordic countries. Mr. Martin Nsnoielsen, CEO of Bryghuset Møn, expressed interest in attracting Chinese tourists and Harbin beer to Denmark while sending Nordic tourists and the finest beer to Heilongjiang, eagerly anticipating participation in the Harbin International Beer Festival.

This promotional event, organized by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, coincided with the increasing momentum of Heilongjiang’s ice and snow tourism, marking 300 days until the start of the 9th Asian Winter Games. It provided timely insights into Heilongjiang’s ice and snow culture, sports, and tourism successes, as well as market opportunities, to Nordic counterparts. Following the event, more than 10 companies expressed interest in cooperation, demonstrating the transcending of Heilongjiang’s ice and snow stories and industry across borders, with the Silver Ribbon extending to Northern Europe.
