“Georgian Airways” and Sichuan’s International Tourism Department have inked a memorandum for launching scheduled passenger flights connecting Georgia and China. The signing event took place in Chengdu, China.
Tamaz Gaiashvili, president of the “Georgian Airlines Group,” and Deng Fang, the general secretary of Sichuan Tourism Department and chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, signed the memorandum. It signifies a commitment to bolstering economic, cultural, and business ties between Tbilisi and Chengdu.
As per the agreement, “Georgian Airways” plans to commence regular passenger flights on the Chengdu-Tbilisi-Chengdu route starting from June, utilizing the airline’s European destinations operated from Tbilisi. Discussions also revolved around implementing modern ticketing platforms and promoting tourist routes.
The ceremony was attended by Yuan Honling, Head of the Eurasia Department at Sichuan Foreign Affairs Department, Sichuan’s International Tourism Department executives, “Georgian Airlines” General Director Irakli Mezvrishvili, and First Deputy Tsisia Panchvidze. This initiative gained traction following Georgia’s Prime Minister’s visit to China and the subsequent agreement on strategic partnership between the two nations.
