One of the latest important steps undertaken in this regard was the certification of 25,344 tour guides all around the nation. At the same time, reported casualties increased from 311 in 2024 to 384 in 2025, highlighting the importance of strengthening both safety systems and sustainable tourism management practices. These figures have reinforced the government’s commitment to improving risk management, environmental protection, and sustainable destination planning, particularly in high-traffic tourism areas such as mountains, marine parks, and eco-tourism zones.

Indonesia’s tourism strategy is increasingly aligned with sustainable tourism development principles, focusing on long-term environmental balance and community-based tourism growth.
