Hamad International Airport in Doha clinches the top spot in Skytrax rankings, overtaking Changi Airport. The 2024 World Airport Awards reveal new global leaders.
Recently, a study by the London-based research institute Skytrax revealed that Hamad International Airport in Doha has been declared the world’s top airport. Previously, this honor belonged to Changi Airport, which now ranks second.
The 2024 World Airport Awards ceremony took place on April 17 at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Frankfurt, Germany. Incheon International Airport in South Korea captured third place.
Despite not topping the global list this year, Changi Airport continues to dominate in Asia and has received high praise for its immigration services, considered the best worldwide. Additionally, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport was recognized as the best airport hotel for the ninth time.
These distinctions resulted from an extensive international survey conducted by Skytrax from August 2023 to February 2024. Travelers rated their experiences across multiple airport touchpoints, including check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, immigration, and departures.
This year marks the third victory for Hamad International Airport, having previously won in 2021 and 2022, while Changi Airport held the top spot in 2023, its twelfth such honor.
A spokesperson from Changi Airport Group expressed gratitude for the accolade and acknowledged Hamad International Airport’s accomplishment. She highlighted the crucial support from passengers and airport partners, particularly during the challenging COVID-19 era.
She emphasized, “We are profoundly thankful to our passengers and airport collaborators for their ongoing support. They are our primary motivation in striving to deliver superior travel experiences for everyone at Changi Airport.”
This statement underscores the significant role that passengers and partners play in inspiring continuous improvements in the services at Changi Airport, ensuring enhanced experiences for all visitors.
