On May 9, 2024, a remarkable culinary collaboration will unfold at San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel. Chef Massimo Mantarro will be welcoming Chef Jean-François Piège, renowned for his French haute cuisine, to an unforgettable event at the prestigious 1 Michelin star restaurant, Principe Cerami.

This exclusive event offers guests a unique opportunity to savor a blend of Sicilian and French cuisines, highlighting the flavors and signature dishes of both chefs. The backdrop of the restaurant, with its stunning views of the Ancient Theatre, Mount Etna, and Taormina Bay, adds to the magic of the evening.

The menu will feature a symphony of flavors, with each course showcasing the culinary essence of Chef Mantarro and Chef Piège. Drawing on their longstanding friendship, the chefs will incorporate local ingredients from Sicily and France into a five-course menu.

From Sicily, guests can enjoy squid risotto-style, prepared by Chef Mantarro with black squid ink and basil. This dish showcases the chef’s innovative approach, as the squid is finely chopped to resemble rice grains, and guests are invited to complete the dish at the table.

Chef Piège will present his interpretation of French cuisine, featuring signature dishes from the Grand Restaurant in Paris. His creations emphasize the use of local, high-quality ingredients, exemplified by his famous Mijotés Modernes technique, which enhances the natural flavors of the ingredients.

To complement the exquisite menu, Alessandro Malfitana, Head Sommelier of Principe Cerami, has curated a selection of French and Sicilian wines to pair perfectly with each course.

Chef Mantarro’s culinary creations aim to take guests on a gastronomic journey, blending local and international flavors, and offering an extraordinary dining experience at Principe Cerami Restaurant.

“The love for this island where I was born leads me to explore constant opportunities to combine Sicilian excellence with international cuisine. Thanks to years spent abroad perfecting my technique and discovering the excellence of world cuisine I bring continuous evolution to Principe Cerami, which is also expressed through collaborations with the great names of international cuisine,” says Chef Mantarro.

Chef Jean-François Piège oversees a collection of nine restaurants, each offering distinctive gastronomic experiences. Among them is the Grand Restaurant, which has held 2 Michelin stars since 2016. Throughout his career, Chef Piège has crafted a unique culinary identity and has authored over 14 books. His influence extends beyond the kitchen, with a strong presence in various media, solidifying his reputation both in France and worldwide.

“I’ve always loved Italy, all their products and ingredients are a real source of inspiration. It’s an honour for me to cook at San Domenico Palace, A Four Seasons Hotel, with Chef Massimo Mantarro,” says Chef Piège.

The two chefs present an exceptional gastronomic collaboration at Principe Cerami, offering an international dinner in the elegant style characteristic of Four Seasons, set against the backdrop of Taormina’s rich history and stunning coastal views.
