Air Canada is proud to announce its receipt of the 2024 APEX Best in Entertainment Award for North America, recognizing its outstanding in-flight entertainment (IFE) offerings. Presented at the APEX Awards ceremony in Lisbon last night, this marks the airline’s inaugural win of this esteemed accolade. The award, based on passenger ratings collected by the organization from thousands of Air Canada travelers, underscores the airline’s commitment to delivering exceptional onboard experiences.

“I am extremely proud of the recognition as 2024 APEX Best in Entertainment Award in North America, reflecting the unparalleled entertainment offering onboard our aircraft. With thousands of hours of movies, TV shows and audio podcasts available, our customers clearly are appreciative of the wide variety of options during their flights. I thank our customers for their loyalty. We’re continuing to add content to our on-demand and live IFE offerings, so stay tuned as more exciting products will be rolled out soon!” said John Moody, Managing Director, Onboard Product at Air Canada.

Air Canada offers an expansive array of complimentary in-flight entertainment, boasting over 1,400 hours of movies, 1,900 hours of television shows, and more than 600 hours of music and podcasts, along with a variety of live TV stations. Collaborations with Apple TV+, Audible, Disney+, Hayu, and other platforms bring passengers a diverse selection of content, including movies, TV episodes, specialty channels, music albums, and games in multiple languages, ensuring an engaging experience from takeoff to touchdown.

On select newly retrofitted Airbus A321 aircraft, passengers can enjoy the unique feature of viewing exterior cameras via the IFE screens, offering a bird’s-eye view of their flight courtesy of cameras installed in the rear fuselage or underbelly of the aircraft. This groundbreaking feature, a first for narrow-body aircraft globally, is expected to be available on all 15 Airbus A321 aircraft by the end of 2025.

The APEX Awards, in partnership with TripIt from Concur, collected feedback from passengers via a neutral, third-party platform to determine the winners. Nearly one million flights were rated by passengers across over 600 airlines worldwide, using a five-star scale and providing anonymous ratings in categories such as seat comfort, cabin service, food and beverage, entertainment, and Wi-Fi, all accessible on a single screen, allowing passengers to rate their flight experience quickly and easily.
